It seems that Mirth and Wonder has been hit by cupid. It’s no wonder since we both have men in our lives that we adore.
For our wedding we received an inscribed padlock from our relatives with two keys. Until my wedding I had never heard of “Locks of Love” (click this link to read more) but I love the idea of this tradition which originated in China. You are supposed to lock the lock to a bridge, fence, poll or wall and throw the key away so that your love is locked forever. This does not necessarily need to be just with your lover, but you can do this tradition with a close friend or family member.
This tradition has now spread around the World and is now prevalent in South Korea, Japan, Guam, Italy, Hungary, Latvia, Russia and the United States.

This is from Beijing, China. I love all the red ribbons.

And of course this photo from Mt. Putuo, Putuoshan Island, China with all the heart shape locks is so charming.

This is our actual lock and key. I think we will lock it up this weekend. We went to lock onto the Brooklyn Bridge, but found that the proximity of where you can lock it verses where you can throw the key did not work.
Please let us know if you have a suggestion as to where we should lock it up in NYC.
